How search works
Type the way you would say it. Everylot picks the year, make, model, price cap, mileage cap and location out of the sentence and searches the dealer lots we cover.
The search box takes a sentence, not a form. 2019 4runner under 35k near 33460 becomes Toyota 4Runner, model year 2019, price at most $35,000, near zip 33460. manual miata becomes Mazda MX-5 Miata with a manual transmission. f-150 4wd under 60k miles becomes Ford F-150, four-wheel drive, at most 60,000 miles.
What gets picked out
- Years: a single year (2019), a range (2017-2020), or an open end (2018+).
- Money: under 35k, below $20,000, over 10k. A bare number with a k or a dollar sign is money; a bare five-digit number is a zip code.
- Mileage: under 60k miles, 60000 mi. The word miles (or mi) is what tells us it is not a price.
- Location: a five-digit zip, city or state, for example near 33460 or near Tampa. A city or zip uses the selected distance; a state searches that state. A place you choose with the pin button takes priority over a place in the sentence. An approximate location from your connection yields to a place you type.
- Make and model, with typos tolerated: toyta 4runer still finds Toyota 4Runners. Bare models resolve to their make.
- Transmission (manual, automatic), drivetrain (awd, 4wd), fuel (hybrid, diesel, electric) and body type (truck, suv, convertible).
Anything left over is matched as a word against the listing's title and trim, so limited or trd narrow to those trims. The interpretation shows in the first row of the suggestion menu as you type, so you can see what we understood before you press Enter.
When nothing matches exactly
A small index means an exact combination can come up empty. Where broader matches are offered, the results say what was loosened: first the year, then the price cap, then the mileage cap, then the distance, then the extra details. An explicit location outside our coverage keeps its distance limit. Its coverage notice offers Search all covered states if you want to widen the search.
