Privacy and cookies, in plain language
No ad tracking, no sale of data. A small cookie notice with two categories (Essential, Analytics); "Your privacy choices" in the footer reopens it. Analytics are our own aggregate daily counts with no visitor identifiers, plus two analytics services that stop when you decline them.
The legal versions are the privacy policy, terms and cookie policy. This is the readable one.
Searching
Your search filters go to our server to run the query and are not stored against you. We count how often each search text is used, in aggregate, to improve the vocabulary; there is no visitor id attached.
Cookies and the notice
On your first visit a small notice in the corner asks about two categories. Essential is always on: the session cookies our authentication provider needs to keep you signed in, the record of your cookie choices, the light or dark theme you pick, and the abuse checks on forms. Analytics is the measurement described below: it counts until you decline, and declining stops it at once. Your answer lives in one small cookie plus a matching local-storage entry for a limited period. "Your privacy choices" in the footer of every page reopens the preferences whenever you like. There are no advertising cookies, and never will be; while Analytics is on, one of the analytics services sets two cookies of its own (the cookie policy names them).
Analytics
We keep aggregate counters: page views by path, referrer sites, countries, device classes, searches and clicks to dealers. Counters have no visitor identifier, no IP address and no query strings, and are kept for a limited period. We also use two analytics services: one cookieless, hosted in the EU, that stores no personal data, and one that sets two cookies and runs with its advertising features off (in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland without cookies until you accept Analytics). Both are the Analytics category of the notice, so turning Analytics off stops both counting and removes those cookies.
Recognized vehicle makes and models in searches and dealer clicks also contribute to daily aggregate interest counts, which help prioritize listing updates. Those counts are not tied to you or your account. Opening an older listing can also move its next fact check up the queue; no visitor or viewing history is stored for this.
We email you only for things you asked for: a confirmation link when you subscribe, a receipt when you write to support, and the newsletter if you opted in. Every message has an unsubscribe link.
